Planning and Footpaths Committee
This committee is responsible for commenting on all planning applications and reporting any faults with public footpaths and bridleways (not highway pavements).
Rudgwick Parish Council (RPC) is a Statutory Consultee which means Horsham District Council (HDC) must inform RPC of any planning applications made within the Parish. RPC visit all applications and, at each planning meeting, make comment. RPC will decide and inform HDC on their level of judgment of each application. Levels of judgment may be “Support”, No Objection” or “Objection”.
Planning Committee meetings are open to members of the public. Members of the public may only participate in discussions if invited to do so by the Chairman of the committee.
..Finance, Policy and Human Resources Committee
This committee is responsible for Parish Council budgeting, financial regulation and auditing. It is also responsible for agreeing member’s codes of conduct and welfare of members of staff.
The committee set budgets each year and in turn, set the Parish precept (the amount each household will pay, as part of their council tax, which will go to the Parish Council).
The committee will also review council policies such as freedom of information or internal auditing.
..Recreation, Open Spaces and Properties Committee
This committee is responsible for Managing, maintaining and improving all Parish recreation grounds, playgrounds, land and buildings.
This committee also liaises with the Parish Open Spaces Warden who checks the condition and safety of all play equipment and public access areas within the Parish.
They liaise with all the sporting clubs and general field and hall users to ensure as many people as possible are catered for with the correct facilities.
..Transport, Community Safety and Emergency Planning Committee
This committee is responsible for monitoring all modes of transport, promoting crime prevention and formulating disaster plans.
Annually, this committee will conduct a walking audit which monitors the condition of roads, footways and lighting. It also looks at transport initiatives such as speed prevention methods and public access transport.
The committee also investigates methods of crime prevention such as neighbourhood watch schemes and other initiatives promoted by Sussex Police.
Periodically, the committee will review the Parish Councils Emergency Plan. This is a plan of how we may best deal with disasters such as an aeroplane crash or flooding within the Parish.
